I have written this page just because I feel there is a lot of bad information out there about boxers and less than reputable people selling poor quality dogs. I dont want to seem harsh or mean, but here are some things to consider:
I have noticed that a lot of people are now pricing their puppies similar to ours. However, they aren't really providing the same puppies. The parents are not Champion show dogs. They are not doing any type of health testing on the parents. They don't have the 1 year genetic, 2 year hip, 3 year heart warrenty that we offer. Make sure you are getting what you pay for.
Never buy from a breeder that breeds white boxers. There is simply no excuse for this and I have no idea why, other than money, someone would breed white boxers. It is CLEARLY not to better the breed. While white boxers make just as good of pets as their fawn/brindle littermates, they do have a higher incident of DEAFNESS, BLINDNESS, and you have to be careful because they burn easier in the sun, which can lead to more skin problems including cancer.
Look for CONFIRMATION(body/head shape) over color. You may have your heart set on a certain color or markings but really it is the overall look of the dog that counts. Right now there is a black boxer fad over the internet with people charging a lot of money for POOR, POOR quality boxers. Most of these black boxers have no decent bloodlines behind them, still breeders overprice these pups just for the black color that is NOT even recognized by AKC. Since they cropped up in the past few years I have only seen ONE black boxer with decent confirmation AND good pedigree, and he is here in Michigan. Most barely look like boxers, and more like Dane mixes. ALL puppies are cute, but what families SHOULD be concerned about is what they will look and act like as an adult. They are adults for a lot longer than they are puppies. That is where quality counts!!!!
Also stay AWAY from people selling show potential puppies that are anything other than AKC or UKC Registered. In general the other registries are a scam and they are poor quality dogs. These designer registry shows mean nothing. Dont be sucked in. It is insulting to people who take the time, effort and money to truly show dogs. |
